Family trip in the last week of March out to Eugene and then tour of the coast. Not quite time for migratory birds.

Multiple walks near Autzen stadium in Eugene - "Alton Baker Park" per ebird.

Where else are you going to see Wood Ducks, Brown Creepers, Red-naped Sapsuckers, and a Solitary Sandpiper. Just a ton of birds here.

This is a great wetland spot and easy access from Royal Ave. Highlights were Black Stilt, Cinnamon Teal, and Purple Martins. Go on a Saturday when you can access more of the wetlands, and wear waterproof boots.

Central to North Coast

  • I wish I was better at gulls
  • lifers for me were Harlequin Ducks and Pelagic Cormorants
  • many many Marsh Wrens
  • too stormy to go out to Cannon Beach, had hoped to see an early puffin

Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area - https://ebird.org/checklist/S220944867 - could've stood there all day with the scope. Just a great overlook. Large rafts of murres, guillemots here and there. Almost certain I saw a Shearwater off of Yaquina head, but no luck identifying it. Gull-sized, brown/gray on top lighter underneath, quick wingbeats, flying down a wave trough.
