Family history notes from Evelyn Dobson

Reverend William D. Dobson (born 1844 Searletown, Prince Edward Island, died 1907

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada). His parents also lived in Prince Edward Island,

and came there from the county of Yorkshire, in England, in the early 1800s. He was a

Methodist minister from age 25 until he died at 64. He served in churches all over Eastern

Canada, including Halifax, NS, Dalhousie, NB; he also was the minister of the Medhodist church

on the island of Bermuda. There, his daughter Ethel Dobson was born. Ethel was one of our

favorite aunts; she died in 1998 at the age of 106 years. Rev. William Dobson became a Doctor

of Divinity in 1907. He was much loved by all who knew him, and was famous for his wonderful

sermons. We have made a book of his sermons. He was the father of Frederick, Eldon and Ethel

Dobson.

Ella Austin Morehouse (born 1856 Centerville, NS, died 1915 Charlottetown, PEI, Canada) was

William Dobson's wife. They were married in about 1874 in Digby Co., NS, Canada. She was

known to her granddaughters (our aunts) as "G'am Dobson". She had red hair, like many of her

relatives. She was the mother of Frederick, Eldon and Ethel Dobson
