Hi, I'm Brad. At different times I'm a writer, marketer, and software engineer. I started writing code at 14, so that's over 40 years now.

I continue to be inspired by the resurgence of small, independent websites.

This site represents a drawing back from 2 substacks (50+ posts), a few posts using grav (a markdown-based blogging platform), and a bunch of old WordPress posts I had lost and then recovered from The Internet Archive Wayback Machine. I scripted my way through taking substack's export (no images, text in html) and converting it to markdown, then wrote a small static site generator for what you see now.

I have several goals here:

• no javascript, i.e. no browser-side work
• site is static, i.e. no server-side scripting
• minimal css (it's worth it for overall styling and dark mode)
• site works with a text-mode browser like lynx
• keep all my source material in markdown
• looks reasonably nice
• get some enjoyment out of creating a nice, lightweight site for my writing
• setup a simple blogging workflow

I kinda want to try converting an export from my Facebook posts to see what it would look like here. I'm also looking at adding some of the indieweb building blocks.
